have been a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) all of my life,
and at 52 that seems like a long time! I love
the core theology that tells me
that the main part of Christianity is loving God with all my heart and my
neighbor as myself. What can be simpler than that or more important?
Having come out as a gay male just a few years ago, finding Community of Grace
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) lets me know that I can still worship
with a community of like minded people and that the Disciples and this local
church are accepting and embracing all of me! Now I can truly love God with all
my heart, and know that with the acceptance of Community of Grace, I can love my
neighbor more, because I am encouraged to love me, all of me, just like God
does.
Dennis is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and has led communities of faith in Kansas, Oklahoma, Nova Scotia and Minnesota. He is currently a chaplain at Friendship Village in Bloomington, Minnesota.
